K and A Home Remodelers Marks National Senior Citizens Day With a Focus on Aging in Place

The Waltham remodeler is spotlighting aging-in-place renovations on August 21, from curbless showers to wider doorways, with free consultations for local families.

August 21 is National Senior Citizens Day, and K&A Home Remodelers Co. of Waltham is using it to spotlight the least glamorous and most requested job in their book: making a house work for the person who plans on staying in it.

Aging in place has quietly become one of the fastest growing corners of residential remodeling. The work is rarely dramatic. A curbless walk-in shower instead of a tub with a twelve inch wall to climb over. Wider doorways. Lever handles. A first floor bathroom where there used to be a closet.
