GREENBELT, MD, UNITED STATES, October 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Author, Poet, and Photographer Explores Parenting, Intergenerational Trauma, and Human Connection Through Memoir, Poetry, and Practical Guidance for Families

Greenbelt, Maryland – Rachel Zirkin Duda is an author, poet, and photographer whose work explores parenting, intergenerational trauma, and human connection. She began writing about eight years ago, and that path has grown into a body of work that blends memoir, poetry, and practical guidance for families navigating difficult histories. Alongside her writing, Rachel has spent years as a freelance and event photographer, capturing everything from high school sports to nonprofit galas. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Her memoir, Mending Together, Building Together, chronicles the experience of raising her son through trauma and intergenerational cycles. The book has won two awards, and Rachel was named a finalist for Author of the Year. She has since published a poetry collection under the pen name “Hannah Blue” and is now co-writing Bridging the Gap with her son, Seth – the first book in a new series called Learning Each Other’s Language. Drawing on years of recorded conversations, Bridging the Gap explores how two people can love each other, use the same words, and still not be having the same conversation.

Rachel attributes her success to a genuine hunger to help people who have felt unimportant or overlooked because of trauma or neurodivergence. That drive is paired with intuition, an ability to sense what a person or situation truly needs, and a willingness to learn from what does not work. Her approach has also been shaped by her understanding of the parenting dynamics she experienced growing up and her conscious choice to do things differently with her own son.

In her articles for Influential Women, Rachel draws on everyday conversations with her son and her partner to explore what happens when one person’s intended meaning is not what the other person hears. Her work examines how differences in language, processing, timing, and perspective shape communication – and how understanding those differences can help people find their way back to one another.

Inclusion is central to everything Rachel does. She believes everyone deserves the support and understanding they need to become the best version of themselves, which begins with understanding people as they actually are rather than measuring them against who they are expected to be. Her work is rooted in the conviction that people find their footing not by conforming to expectations but by understanding who they are, and that parents can extend that same understanding to their children. She carries this value into her personal life, approaching parenting and relationships by getting to know people as individuals rather than expecting them to fit a predetermined mold. She also volunteers with the Casey Cares Foundation.

With two more books in progress, a series of Mini-Click™ guides intended for neurodivergent families, and a growing interest in speaking and community-building around parenting, neurodivergence, trauma, and communication, Rachel continues to expand how she reaches and supports others through storytelling. Across her writing, Rachel returns to one central idea: lasting connection begins when we stop assuming we already understand one another and start learning each other’s language.
